Empowering the people that power world trade. How human centred approach to technology can help us reach our digitisation, environmental and sustainability goals
Ship operators are well versed in complying with multiple and continuously changing regulations, but with the increasing much-needed focus on environmental sustainability, ambitious targets for carbon neutrality as well as the broader spotlight on ESG performance, there is a greater need than ever before for a strategic approach to managing and measuring the performance of the fleet.
ESG performance not only equates to the traditional shipping industry risks of accidents, vessel detentions, pollution incidents and the associated financial losses from fines and reputational damage. It is also linked to new emerging risks related to corporate governance and social factors, well-being of personnel and the quality of life onboard. All these factors now contribute to the sustainability of the company and its ability to stay competitive.
Much of the conversation around how to reach these goals focusses on the new fuels, emergent technologies and the broader drive to digitisation, but ultimately it will be our people, the seafarers and those that support them ashore, that will determine the success of these initiatives.
So how can we ensure that our people are prepared with the knowledge they need and are able to work at their optimum in happy, fulfilling and rewarding careers?
The event comprises of a presentation followd by panel discussion.
