Ocean Learning Platform – latest additions and revisions
Training library updates
Updates to our training library deliver a mix of fresh new titles and critical updates to help support your learning strategy for reducing risk, improving safety and performance, and fostering an onboard culture of resilience.
This update is no different, packed with a wide range of new content and revisions. We’ve picked out some highlights below, and you can find a complete list of changes at the bottom of the page.
The most recent release is the culmination of our project to consolidate titles from all OTG learning and assessment brands (Marlins, MTS, Seagull and Videotel) into a single platform. This final phase of careful curation has seen us select the best of the content from Marlins and MTS, the result being that OLP now offers the most comprehensive coverage of maritime learning titles available in the world today.
Lessons Learnt
We strongly believe in the importance of learning from incidents and applying those lessons as part of an ongoing review of procedures and culture. With the addition of the MTS “Lessons Learnt” series of titles, the OLP library now offers seven new resources that can be utilised as a part of your strategy to reduce risks.
#0886 Lessons Learnt, Fall from a Generator Platform
#0887 Lessons Learnt, Collision with a Fishing Vessel
#0888 Lessons Learnt, Death of a Bosun
#0892 Lessons Learnt, Mooring Injury
#0895 Lessons Learnt, Crew Injury in Heavy Weather
#0896 Lessons Learnt, Collision When Overtaking
English for Marine Engineers
Marlins is the gold standard of maritime English Langue testing and training. This newest update to the OLP library includes a Marlins elementary level English for Marine Engineers title that covers five areas of focus.
“Engineering roles require a high degree of technical, hands-on skill. We created the English for Marine Engineers series of titles as a resource to enable seafarers to grow their English language competence alongside their technical skills, so that the ability to communicate effectively does not become a barrier to progression or promotion.”

Physical and mental wellbeing
This release sees the addition of titles designed to support improving onboard culture and offering tools for dealing with the physical and mental pressures of working at sea. In addition, this update includes a free, open-to-all, video from the Seafarers Hospital Society that demonstrates exercises designed to reduce seafarers’ risk of developing common injuries.
