Ocean Technologies Group Becomes Human Capital Management Partner at LISW25

July 3rd 2024

Ocean Technologies Group (OTG) has become one of the first official sector sponsors for LISW25, a new innovation designed to highlight strategic areas of importance within the international maritime community.

As Human Capital Management (HCM) partner, OTG will demonstrate how this holistic approach goes beyond traditional crewing or HR propositions to workforce management.

A recent report by maritime research specialist Thetius, with insights and analysis of anonymised data from OTG, has highlighted that having a robust HCM strategy in place is vital to attract and retain the talent the industry needs.

It also shows that a long-term, strategic, and data-centric approach to managing both seafarers and shore-based personnel will deliver sustained business success.

Speaking about why he felt it was important for OTG to partner LISW25 in this way, Thomas Zanzinger CEO of OTG, said it was vital to showcase HCM so that ship operators could maximise their employees’ potential and value.

“Human Capital Management is vital for the maritime industry’s future. By prioritising our people, we unlock their full potential, attract and retain top talent, and foster a culture of continuous learning. This holistic approach ensures business success, operational excellence, and a positive impact on our maritime professionals.”

Johan Gustafsson, Chief Revenue Officer, added,

“Becoming the HCM sector partner at LISW25 is key to highlighting the importance of taking a holistic approach to how we invest in our most important asset, our people. In combining this with a data driven approach, companies can not only meet the highest standards of compliance but also inspire trust, win business and attract investment. Ultimately this means we can together build a more resilient, future-ready workforce and a more sustainable maritime industry.”

Llewellyn Bankes-Hughes, CEO and co-founder of LISW, welcomed OTG’s involvement in what promises to be the largest London International Shipping Week to date.

“Attracting and retaining the right talent is crucial to the growth and strength of the global maritime sector. We are delighted that, through its involvement, OTG will shine a spotlight on the importance of human capital management, both ashore and at sea.”

LISW 2025

With over 10 years delivering London International Shipping Week, LISW25 returns for the seventh event. Since its incarnation in 2013, LISW has grown with each event staged, becoming what is today, the pinnacle showcase event highlighting London and the UK’ maritime sector to an international audience.

LISW comprises over 350 industry events and functions offering unique networking and engagement opportunities for leaders across all sectors of the international shipping industry – regulators, charterers, ship owners, ship managers, bunker suppliers, lawyers, ship brokers, bankers, insurers, insurance brokers, commodity traders and brokers, ship suppliers, port operators, shipping service providers, and with the support and participation of several UK government departments.

The LISW25 Headline Conference and Gala Dinner will attract the very highest-level government and shipping industry leaders from the UK and around the world to discuss the key issues of the moment, keeping shipping at the forefront of an ever changing world. The Conference is known for being LISW’s event highlight of the week; a pivotal discussion arena for the global shipping community in another amazing week.

LISW25 is organised by Shipping Innovation together with the support and cooperation of the Department for Transport, British Ports Association, Baltic Exchange, Maritime London, Maritime UK, The Society of Maritime Industries, UK Chamber of Shipping and UK Major Ports Group. LISW was created and is produced by Shipping Innovation – a joint venture between Elaborate Communications and Petrospot.
